July 2, 1916

July 2. (Sunday) Up to Lancs trenches this morning.
6.30p.m started to leave Bienvillers – and marched back
to Halloy which we reached at 1.a.m. Very rough
going in dark – but lit up a bit by the flashes
of our guns. The whole Division is coming out
and we expect to go south. Have got a comfortable
billet – and men all in huts.
