January 11, 1916

Jan.11. Evening sent up to A.D.S. at Funky
as M/O. to 10th Royal Fusiliers. Col. Hon. Whitehead
C/O. (In Jameson Raid in South Africa and got 7 months
in Holloway afterwards). This is the Stock-Broker
Battalion, all very wealthy and men gentlemen,
mostly. C/O brother to Lord [?] Castle Ashby
N’pton. M.F. of Psychology.[?]
Got a very comfortable dug out, with fire in
it; supposed then to be a safe dug out, but
would not have been much use if real
heavy shelling on. However did not know
this, so slept well.
