July 16, 1916

July 16. Finished off wounded and got some breakfast –
sardines, tea and biscuit about 8-30. Then
slept until 11. Then had another meal and my
relief turned up. Am still suffering from dysentery
and supposed to have gone into hospital on 15th
but my relief could not find battalion. Went
up to H.Q. which is with the battalion, about
300 yrs in front of aid post and found they were
coming out today. Then started off alone for
Albert – about 5 mile walk – and reported to ADMS
who sent me to field ambulance and from there
by car to hospital behind Albert.
