June 19, 1916

June 19. Hannescamps very ruined only one or two houses partially standing and walls of church – very well trenched – so one can reach line and any part of village without going on top.

Aid-post newly built consists of two ‘baby-elephants’ with about four ft. of sand bag on top, and requires another 4 or 5 ft. to be put on. My dug-out is a small hole about 16ft down leading off steps to Aid-post, has however only one entrance.
