March 24, 1916

March 24. Ft. of snow on ground – no parade.
Had to start at 8.30 to ride to Lucheux 6 miles to a
lecture by A.D.M.S. Snowing all the way.
Lecture on ‘temperance’ – we were shown the exact
quantity of whiskey, about 1/8 inch in a glass, a man
can take without seriously injuring himself – A.D.M.S.
Col. Wright a fanatic and ass. Great cheering from
audience at end of lecture – everyone repaired at once
to various messes in the town to drink lime water.
