November 15, 1916

Nov. 15. Not much doing and warm and safe in dug out. Had message a party of machine gunners blown up by shell and went out to them – but found only
two officers slightly wounded who went back alone. 11.p.m. Battalion relieved – freezing hard and very slippery going. At White City had to descend
a steep chalk bank, where everyone fell and rolled to bottom about 20 ft. including bearers and wounded. Arrived Mailly-Maillet at 2.a.m. and had dinner roast beef etc. then to sleep on floor round big fire.
