November 18, 1916

Nov.18. Still at Hamel Station – am getting a number of sick and trench feet owing to cold and wet. 10.p.m. Go up to occupy ‘Muck Trench’ opposite
German new Line. Found it well named and to consist of shell holes – no signs of trench left. H.Q. and aid post in a very good German dug out – comfortably furnished but accommodation limited. Only one bed for C/o. I slept on floor underneath and rest of H.Q. under and on table and men and aid post in passage and on steps to dug out. Warwicks H.Q. next door to us, their R.C. Padré killed by a shell at entrance to dug out.
