Tuesday 30. Taxi to Waterloo and caught 9.30 for Southampton Docks which we reached at 12 O’clock and reported to Embarkation officer. No news of where we are bound – but ordered to be on board steamer between 10 and 12pm.

So caught 12.30 train to Winchester to see Val. Found him well and happy and spent afternoon with him. Back to S’hampton by 6.30 and had dinner at station hotel at 8.pm. This hotel is given over to the military as officers rest hut and canteen.
